Week 4: During this week we had gathered up everything
preparing ourselves for our filming. We got all the cameras that were needed
and all the sound equipment from college, some cameras were cameras of our own.
We got cameras of our own so we would have more footage to look through when
editing basically giving us more to choose from when editing. It also gives us
different angles so we could see what will be best for each scene the more
cameras the better. But we also had to think of the amount of cameraman
available because too many cameras could mean some will not be used and just be
left lying around. Filming with many cameras also means we would not have to
film scenes as many times as we planned. We gave all our actors that came to
our audition as much information as possible because we thought they best
suited our roles. We didn’t actually have an audition, this was because of the
lack of planning. We picked a day where another group from our class were
auditioning and we had to wait and eventually time ran out so we just pulled
the actors that showed to the side and spoke to them and gave them as much info
as possible so nothing would fail. We gave them dates, location times and
telephone numbers so that they knew who to call if something was to happen. During
the auditioning it was our female actors that showed this was because we had
already chosen a male actor that suited our lead character well. So now that we
were ready we went to film on a specific day.

Talent/Crew
At the start of our production we had planned out to recruit many drama students to be part of the talent for our short film. we had hosted a casting audition in the college for the student to turn up to, eventually many students did and some did well. The next day we had went out to look for the students who looked best for the role they were given and asked them if they were still interested, as a group we had hoped for good to happen, but in our case many of the students declined except one female named Hannah.
So as time progressed as a group we had decided that we would al be given a role to act out and still eventually be able to be either a camera man or sound operator at the time, in other words, since were in a group of four, if two people were in the same scene together we would then hand over the camera and the sound mic to the other two as this would also give the others a chance to take charge of a different role. So as we all agreed on the idea as we had previously made a music video together which we all felt was well received by the audience.

Codes of practice and Regulations
One of the main regulations that our group is considering the most is copy right. copy right is a legal concept, enacted by many people work wide as this grants the creator of the original work exclusive rights to its use and distribution. To resolve any copyright issues we would have contacted the owners of the original work before hand to ask for permission to be able to use his work which in our case would be sound tracks that would suite a certain scene in our short film.
as a group we had also discussed issues such as permission of locations that we would be filming at at permission of any external actors that we may bring in. locations such as houses and shops would definitely need a location relase form but for any other locations such as parks would not need a location release as these locations are available to everyone from the public.
any documents regarding permission for copyright, location and talent would be listed soon.

For our production the budget may vary between £40 and £50,
the reason why it’s because we already have accessibilities to most of the
equipment we will need and editing software’s. If this production was for the
actual industry the budget would be much more expensive because we would then
have to buy/rent things to shoot. For a short film named The Big West, the
budget was £2000 and with that money they rented cameras, bought editing
software’s and props, therefore if we were shooting a short film outside
college the cost would slightly be the same if unless we have majority of the equipment. http://www.indiesonar.com/blog/how-to-make-a-short-film-on-a-low-budget/
